Jazz 2

First was the Jazz concert organized by our very own Music Department. Other schools were invited to make it a fun filled evening. Schools which participated were Peterhouse, Prince Edward, Hellenic, St Georges, Watershed and of course, The Heritage School.

This was held in the Apollo Hall on 18th June 2014 at 5:30pm. It was indeed a memorable evening for all who attended and contributed to its success. For some of us, it was a night to remember as we witnessed for the first time, an all ladies Jazz Band. The Girls High School girls proved that females are a force to reckon with in the Jazz arena. There is so much talent in the schools, soloists took to the stage as they entertained the crowd with their beautiful singing. Rujeko Mwaramwidze, Stephanie Mashonga, Sacha Chimanikire, Ngaatendwe Janda and Lucia Sufiante – you rock girls! Plato once said, “Music is a moral law, it gives the soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and charm and gaiety to life and everything. When words fail, music speaks”. Indeed that evening, music spoke to all of us – I am sure! We were delighted to have been graced by the presence of the Deputy Provincial Education Officer – Mr Mukova, Northern Central Region District Officer – Mr Musakanya and District Education Officer ECD – Mrs Marufu. Thank you to the stars of the evening, the soloists, Jazz band members and the respective band directors. A big thank you also goes to the School Directors for their support, Mrs Coid for co-ordinating the event, colleagues and School Prefects who volunteered their time and services to make this event a success. Thank you parents, students and all those who came to support us.
